Allen Schmeltz - Acting Workshops and Private Instruction  (Allen's bio)

It is the goal of Allen Schmeltz to provide instruction for young people, teens and adults that allow them to become "real" on stage. It is not about how to act but how to stop "acting" and start "being." This is accomplished through theatre games; improvisation; monologs; scene study and analysis; working with emotions, circumstances and relationships; and building on the strengths of each student and developing new skills.

Private Instruction

Private Instruction for Beginning, Intermediate or Advanced Students consists of a one-hour lesson once a week.  The fee is $150 a month payable at the first lesson of each month.  Students receive intensive one-on-one coaching in performance skills and techniques.  Private lessons are the fastest way for students to make progress.

Workshops

Scene Study and Improvisation Workshops are available for 10-15 year olds and 7-10 year olds. The workshops are ongoing and students may join at any time.  Students learn theatre performance and improvisation techniques and in the process build confidence and teamwork skills.

Scene Study and Improvisation for 10-16 year olds

• Friday Workshop from 3:30 to 5:30pm for 10-16 year olds.
• Wednesday Workshop from 4:00 to 6:00pm for 10-16 year olds.

The fee is $80 per month payable at the first session of the month.  This workshop is limited to 15 students.  A showcase performance of work completed is presented every 3-4 months.

Scene Study and Improvisation for 7-10 year olds

• Saturday Workshop from 10:30 to 11:30pm.

The fee is $60 per month payable at the first session of the month.  This workshop is limited to 10 students.  A Showcase performance of work completed is presented every 3-4 months.

Credits or Refunds for Missed Workshop Sessions or Private Lessons

There are no refunds or make-ups for missed lessons or workshop sessions; however, in the event of vacations or missed days known in advance (before the end of the month prior to the month in which they occur), there will be no charge for the missed lessons.  If a student joins in the middle of a month, the fee will be prorated.

Miscellaneous Information

Lessons and Workshops are held at either the Sutter Street Theatre, 717 Sutter Street, Historic Folsom 95630 or at the Sutter Street Annex, 710 Figueroa, Historic Folsom 95630 (just behind the theatre)

·       We have contracts with some homeschool organizations—please inquire if you are homeschooled.
